ABOUT US

We are committed to offer you the best service!

Committed for years makes us experts in the field of accessible travel

The concept Dolphin Suites has been rated as an innovative tourism product for Curacao being the first and still only fully wheelchair accessible hotel in the Caribbean.  Founded by the Curacao Dolphin Therapy & Research Center in 2008 to primarily serve families traveling to Curacao that participate in the 10-days dolphin assisted therapy program. A valuable addition to the tourism product on the Island and an opening to attract medical tourism to Curacao, therefore support by the Dutch PSNA fund in 2007. In the first 10 years we welcomed over 10.000 guests with special needs. With our focused marketing into this new niche market for Curacao it has put this Island on the map as an accessible destination offering accessible travel to the Caribbean.

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?

Dolphin Suites is – still - the only fully wheelchair accessible hotel in the Caribbean.

Although the hotel also welcomes guests without special needs, our professional team specializes in providing tailor-made services to guests with special needs.

The establishment of the hotel was supported by the PSNA program, also known as the Netherlands Antilles Cooperation Project.

This program originates from the Netherlands and is based on the principles of collaboration. The project is established by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations to stimulate innovative business projects.

Dolphin Suites is a valuable addition for the diversity in tourism to Curacao

We actively work towards a more accessible Curacao. We’ve teamed up with several partners - such as local foundations and stakeholders in transport, activities, medical aid products and healthcare - with the aim to make the island more accessible for locals and  tourists that need a little more extra support. Yearly several local foundations and projects for people with special needs are support by Dolphin Suites.

Dolphin Suites is recognized as an accessible boutique hotel by the IAHD, the International Association of Handicap Divers.

We work closely together with several associations all over the globe focusing on accessible travel. Dolphin Suites has put Curacao on the map of wheelchair accessible destinations.  It also creates a welcoming additional niche to Curacao focusing on medical travel.

MEET OUR TEAM

I had the privileged to open this unique boutique hotel  on March 3, 2009.

Ever since, I have managed the hotel with a lot of love and passion. With a background in hotel management, I aimed for more meaning into hotel services and being able to actual make a difference in the lives of people in need. To inspire others and to make possible what seemed impossible. To offer a unique experience. That is what we do.

With great pleasure and together with an excellent, heart warming and committed team we have developed this unique hotel concept offering an exceptional services level and made  Curacao an accessible travel destination for people with special needs.

I have closed this concept in my heart and love to continuously work on the further development of our product. Currently we work on phase two of the hotel that includes more suites and rooms without losing our "boutique concept", wellness- & restaurant facilities fitting our vision to constantly meet the needs to our guests and expand our reach from accessible travel to well-being travel, making our concept even more accessible to everyone.

Since May 2021, I oversee all day-to-day operations at Dolphin Suites. I moved to this beautiful island to become part of the Dolphin Suites family and to contribute to the one-of-a-kind service we offer at our hotel.

When I first arrived at Dolphin Suites, I felt at home. And now I am part of the warm and welcoming team that makes the difference for each and every guest. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to make our guests feel the same way as I do.

Besides seeing our guests happy, I enjoy doing one of the many things Curacao has to offer; you can find me at the beach, hiking up the Christoffel mountain or snorkeling amongst the many fish.

I hope to welcome you soon!

Previously I worked at the CDTC office, but in March 2019 I was transferred to Dolphin Suites.

I still do the same work as I did before, also for the same companies, just at another office.

I also like and try to help my colleagues at the front desk when it is busy around there.

Working at Dolphin Suites inspires me because it is a small-scale hotel which concentrates on care tourism.

Working at Dolphin Suites is very nice because of its small scale; I love to give our guests the feeling of being at home. Also getting to know them personally makes it a lot of fun.

Being able to help people with disabilities and their families, but also our multicultural, leisure guests, is a great pleasure. When you are working at the front desk, you are a true ambassador of the company. The guests but my colleagues as well, give me a wonderful feeling to go to work.

Since February 2019 am I resident at the beautiful Island Curacao. I like my job because it is not a big resort or hotel like the most accommodations on this Island.

Dolphin Suites is a smaller hotel and for that reason you get to know you guests more than normally.

It inspires me to see guests enjoy their vacation or participation into the dolphin assisted therapy program. I like seeing that Dolphin Suites hotel is visited by guests with different cultures.

What I like more, is humor and have a laugh with the guests. I do think that it is important to let our guests feel that nothing is asked to much.

Working in the tourism industry gives the opportunity to engage with tourist and by Dolphin Suites engage with tourist most frequently and her their story from where they are and give them the best hospitality they deserve as our guest. Do not hesitate and come stay with us at Dolphin Suites, I will be waiting for you with fresh coconut water.

10 years I already work for Dolphin Suites and still I work with lots of pleasure.

I love my job and have a lot of sweet colleagues I like to work with.

In my opinion, it is important to provide the best service to our guests.

I try to deliver my contribution as good as possible. How do I do that? By doing my work as I am supposed to do it with a little bit extra attention for our guests.
