What Sustainability looks like

at Dolphin Suites

Set against the beaches of beautiful Curaçao, we are both a vacation destination and a shining example of sustainable hospitality.

We are a responsible and eco-conscious hotel, and we are in the process of acquiring Travelife Sustainable Accreditation – an impartial, robust, globally-respected certification. We meet 9 of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Here’s how we are leading the way in sustainable tourism and achieving the 9 Sustainable Development Goals:

Good Health & Well-Being

We are dedicated to promoting health and wellness for both staff and guests. We have first-aid trained staff, wheelchair accessibility, assistive care, and medical equipment. Our employees enjoy weekly fruit baskets, and discounted massages and retreats.

Additionally, our green wall and the hanging plants in the new wing of our hotel don’t just provide something beautiful for our guests and staff to enjoy. The hanging plants are replenished by the natural rains and help to filter and circulate the air inside the hotel. A collaborative project between The Silk Company and De Projectgroep, the plants have been specially chosen to withstand the unique environment of Curaçao.

Clean Water & Sanitation

We use biodegradable cleaning products and are in the process of implementing recycled grey water to reduce water waste and promote cleanliness.

Affordable & Clean Energy

We harness the power of solar energy through solar boilers and panels (and will soon be reporting regularly on the performance of our solar power!). We also capture natural wind and sunlight to reduce energy usage in the new wing of our hotel.

Decent Work & Economic Growth

With at least 40% of our hotel supplies coming from the island, we enjoy being able to support the local economy. Guests are encouraged to use locally-sourced organic aloe vera products, with every bathroom in our suites featuring the same organic aloe vera body and hair wash products.

Sustainable Cities & Communities

We encourage guests to participate in local art and culinary tours, and we support local initiatives and offer local sponsorships.

Responsible Consumption & Production

We employ various energy-saving measures, such as energy-efficient pool pumps, water-saving devices, LED lighting, and centrally-controlled air conditioners.

Life Below Water

We are committed to protecting marine life by using biodegradable pool cleaning products. We also intend to participate in ocean clean-up efforts from 2024 and beyond.

Life On Land

We separate waste, provide locally-produced coffee and tea, use organic guest amenities, and employ biodegradable pest control products. The D-TAP drinking bottle initiative reduces plastic bottle usage and promotes environmental preservation.

Partnerships for The Goals

We collaborate with various initiatives, including Hotel for Trees, D-TAP, ProKuido, Carin Cares, and Green Force, strengthening our commitment to sustainable development.

By showcasing our commitment to the environment, the community, and our guests, we are paving the way for sustainable tourism in Curaçao. Our friendly, confident, and unwavering approach to sustainability ensures that our guests can enjoy a memorable and responsible vacation experience.
